Parents of Seniors Attending College:
Do you have a senior who has yet to complete the FAFSA? If so, UNI-CUE is offering Zoom appointments for NH seniors on Wednesday, February 10th, with time slots from 2-6:30pm. In this appointment, you'll be guided through the process of completing the FAFSA. Please have your student email Mrs. Maas if interested at s_maas@new-hampton.k12.ia.us.

New Hampton Music Boosters is having a fundraiser. We will be selling water bottles, hand sanitizers and holders, lanyards and masks with the New Hampton Chickasaw symbol. This fundraiser will go through February 11 and the forms will be able to be picked up from any of the Music Teachers, or in the offices starting on 01-29-2021. All forms and money should be returned to Mr. Adam, Mrs. Adam, Mrs. Reetz, or Mrs. Cantu by February 11.


First graders are exploring nonfiction books, making observations, and asking questions to kick off a new penguin unit!





New Hampton JV and Varsity girls basketball teams will travel to Waverly on 1/28/2021 to compete with W-SR. The start of the JV game has been moved up to 5:30 pm. The varsity game will follow at approximately 6:45 pm.

On Thursday, January 28th, the New Hampton seventh and eighth grade boys basketball teams will play against Crestwood. Both teams will be playing in New Hampton and will play one game at each level. The seventh graders will start at 4:15 pm and the eighth graders will begin at 5:15 pm. Masks are required for spectators. No food or drink allowed in the gym.

Crestwood has cancelled our ninth grade boys basketball game on Tuesday, February 2nd, 2021. We have agreed to start the JV game at 5:45 pm. The varsity game should then start at approximately 7:00 pm. This is senior parent's night for our New Hampton Boys Team. The girls team will be traveling to Crestwood on this same night and those games will also start at 5:45 pm and 7:00 pm.

Our high school students from the Iowa Big North initiative called 'Small Town Struggles' are fundraising to bring back the drive-in movies to New Hampton! They are partnering with the high school Foods classes to host a bake sale. With all the obstacles the COVID-19 includes, the bake sale items will only be available to purchase through pre-orders. Linked below is the google form that must be filled out to place your order. Items will be available to pick up on Friday, February 12th from 6-8 pm, and Saturday, February 13th from 10am-2pm at the New Hampton Municipal Utilities building on main street.

The school district is taking sealed bids on the old weight lifting platforms. There are four total. Highest bid gets first pick. All bids are due to Christy Roethler in the superintendents office by Feb. 5th at 2pm

For the JV wrestling meet tonight (1/25/2021) we will allow a maximum of 6 people from the household of each wrestler plus two additional spectators who will need to use the wrestling passes that were issued earlier this year. Everyone needs to wear a mask and practice social distancing while sitting in your designated school sections. Wrestlers for each team should also sit in the section with their fans. Thanks for your help in keeping people healthy and allowing us to have these events.

Do you know what it means to be a Lacto-Ovo-Vegetarian? How about a semi-vegetarian? Well, Mrs. Schmitt's Foods II students can tell you all about the different types of vegetarians and the health benefits to being a vegetarian. The students made a vegetarian main dish for their lab.

The first graders enjoyed learning about space with Mr. Monteith this morning. We learned a lot about his experience at space academy! Some of us were even lucky enough to launch a rocket!




Our 8th grade students took time to take in the Inauguration of President Biden. It’s a great example of our students learning about history that’s happening in real time!
