Mrs. Schmitt's Foods II Class had an expert guest speaker: Jodi Cerwinske (head of our school cafeteria) talk with the students about Meal Planning. It was very interesting how she plans nutritious meals for around 600 students each day. Our students took-away as they couldn't believe there was so much to meal planning and preparation. I think they gained a new appreciation for their school lunches.

Mrs. Schmitt's Foods II class of 23 students were busy preparing healthy snacks during their Meal Planning Unit. Their choices were: hummus, vanilla yogurt, trail mix, vegetables, a protein, and fruit. The only splurge was the fruit pizza; otherwise the rest were very healthy. You can see why the culinary classes at New Hampton are becoming very popular!

Please vote for Advanced Foods' garnished brownies. They learned about the rules of "plating." Vote for only ONE by writing the number in the comment line. Thank you, Mrs. Schmitt The Advanced Foods Class also had to write a description and name their brownie as it would be on a menu for a new restaurant, so we did a Language requirement with this assignment.
