The TUESDAY: Jersey day! Today is jersey day. Just like in sports, inclusion means everyone plays a vital role and we all work together to create an environment where everyone feels valued and accepted. Wear your jersey with pride and remember that every player, no matter their abilities, is important to the team
This is definitely a favorite lab of learning how to use our Panini presses to make sandwiches. Panini in Italian means "sandwich" and the Foods I students enjoyed trying different types of breads, cheeses, and meats to make the perfect combination of a good Panini! They were quite a creative team.

Counting money is such an important life skill and something our area employers ask that their employees know how to do. Mrs. Schmitt started with 7th Grade FCS and taught them how to properly count back money to a customer. The students learn by using play money that looks realistic and play food. This is a hard concept for them to learn, but they gave it a great try!

Thank you Walmart for a $50.00 grant for New Hampton's FCS classroom. Some of the items purchased were for our FCCLA Cake Competition and others were for classroom use.

What can you make with corn flour? That was the driving question for the Spanish III students in their PBL. We began by exploring what foods have corn flour as an ingredient from the Spanish-speaking countries around the world. Then, we made plain tortillas, so we could learn that basic food. Paola shared with us an authentic dish from Columbia, and Anaí's mom made tamales for our classes. Between the 3 classes, there were very few dishes repeated. The students made tacos, quesadillas, street corn nachos, dessert nachos, pupusas, huaraches, sopes, gorditas, and more! The experience was fun and the food was great!

New Hampton Elementary students went above and beyond, more than doubling our goal for the Kids Heart Challenge! As a result, Mrs. Steele will be dressing up as a duck for a day!
Now, students — Let’s convince Mr. Schmitt to join the fun and have him dress up as a duck while he teaches PE!
