FCS (Family & Consumer Science) was happy to host SSG Amanda Kramer Iowa Army National Guard Recruiter. Kramer had a competition with the students of who could prepare the best MRE (Meals Ready to Eat) and gave the students a variety of meals to prepare and combine into a dish. They were allowed to use whatever Mrs. Schmitt had in the pantry or refrigerator in their dish. They also had to present and explain their creations to the judges. This was Food II's results.

Advanced Foods completed one of their favorite units about Stir-Fry. There was a lot of prepping called "Mise En Place" which is French for put in place or set in place. Then you need to make your stir-fry in a particular order. We were so busy we only took one picture

This project is one for the ages and I am so grateful to be a part of it. Started last summer and just got the 2nd phase finished up. 16 tons of sod hauled out, 28 ton of rock hauled in, over 400 patio pavers and over 800 bricks, moved 1 wheel barrow at a time. With the help of Jamie Ohrt, Jeff Monteith, the Environmental Science class, and the state qualifying Cross Country team this pipe dream is becoming a reality. Phase 3 is to put artificial turf around the patio and sidewalks to allow the teachers an opportunity to hold classes outdoors. We await grant funding to get this project across the finish line, but we are close. It will be such a great area for the school to utilize! As always, it's a great day to be a Chickasaw!

The Spanish II & Spanish III students completed their PBL on Food. The question we wanted to answer was "Are you able to affect change at the school by adding an item to the school lunch menu?" We are grateful to Jodi and all the food staff for trying all our creations from Spanish-speaking countries. We had fun creating and tasting. Here is a link to watch a video of the pictures taken during the project. https://youtu.be/gMPrBArGENA
