Last week Spanish I classes cooked Spanish foods of their choice after learning about authentic foods from a variety of Spanish speaking countries. Churros and fried ice cream were popular choices, but a couple of groups made flautas and esquites. This day was made possible because of a grant that the Spanish department received to purchase kitchenware. Also during the week, the students created their own menus of authentic foods from a country of their choosing. They turned out great!

Second graders in Mrs. Heeren's class enjoyed working with conversation hearts today in math. They estimated how many hearts were in their box, sorted the hearts by color, and then counted the actual number of hearts. Students used this information to create a bar graph with their results. The best part was getting to eat the hearts when they were done!
