A few pictures from Ms. Olson's Block 2 of "Owl Teach You How to Sew". Students' projects are coming along nicely and students are becoming more independent with their sewing. The uniqueness of the projects is really becoming more evident. Lots of neat color combinations.

TK was in the innovation lab for the month of April. They learned about how animals can keep cool. They had to build a shelter or structure to help Ferdinand keep cool!




Mrs. Wickham's first-grade class was in the innovation lab for the month of April. They learned about problem-solving. They built a grabber and had to test it out. They thought this was going to be an easy build but soon learn they had to keep trying and solve problems!




Mrs. Martinek's second-grade class was in for some coding in the elementary library. They were learning about algorithms and how to make the BeeBots move. They then created challenges for each other.





Mrs. Lechtenberg's first-grade class got some hands-on coding time! We tied it to the space unit they have done. They learned how to make the BeeBots move to certain grid points.







One of Mrs. Adam's midmester courses is Intro to ESports. Coach Mr. Adam is graciously letting us borrow the high school esports equipment. Students are using critical thinking to analyze their racing courses. Then they research character stats and different setups that will perform well on the tracks those chose to race. They hypothesize how their race will go and then reflect after each race how they can improve the next race.




Middle School students from Mrs. Schwickerath's group called "Bake Me Happy" collaborated with Mrs. Schmitt's high school students (Foods II Classes) baking cookies and more for their bake sale. Mrs. Roberson shared her expertise on cookie designing for the sugar cookies. Remember to come to their bakesale on Wednesday, April 26th from 3:30-5:30 in NHMS. Proceeds will go to a good cause.




5th grade students were very fortunate to get a tour of Keke’s and then returned to school for their no-bake challenge.









Students in Chickasaw Writer’s Collective had the opportunity to meet virtually with Brooke Gansemer (Van Sickle), award winning author and publisher. She talked to them about the writing process and gave them some feedback on their own children’s books!

New Hampton High School Drama Proudly Presents Murder in the Heir Play. The play will start at 7 pm on Friday April 21 and Saturday April 22 In the elementary school auditorium. tickets are $5.00 and doors open at 6:00.

National Honor Society has partnered with Sweets by Keke for a cheesecake fundraiser! Starting today through April 28, you can choose from four varieties of 2-packs and five varieties of 6-packs of Sweets by Keke's cupcake-sized cheesecakes to order. A portion of all proceeds will go to National Honor Society and Post Prom 2023.
Payment is due upon ordering. Please make checks payable to New Hampton Schools. Delivery/pick-up of orders will be Wednesday, May 10.


Ms. Good's class was in the innovation lab for a lesson! We learned about what floats and how to build a boat that won't capsize!




Mrs. Kleespies' students got some hands-on coding with Sphero Indi! They worked on what group could have the longest path.



Teacher Cheri's class learned about Earth Day then used the BeeBots to do some coding! They loved it when they got it to go where they wanted it to!

Today in Disaster Zone the Chickasaw County Rescue Squad visited and brought some of the tools of their trade. Students donned water rescue suits, practiced rolling people into the recovery position, and used the air lift bags to lift objects.




Yesterday Disaster Zone welcomed guest speak Ben Shockey from Gundersen AIR helicopter out of Decorah. Ben led a case study of an accident involving Mr. Rude’s brother, where Ben was the lead medic. Flight Medic Shockey explained how simple things that we can do as individuals can make a difference in the outcome of an emergency.



Students in Mr. Erlandson's Intro to Computer Science - Game Design midmester class are learning how to use the Scratch coding platform to design their own game.




Guest Speaker Brian Moore spoke about trapping to students in the course - Life in the Outdoors.
