Students in the Intro to Computer Science Endmester class have been learning to code and create their own games using Scratch. Stop by the Middle School this Friday between 3:30 and 5:30 PM to see their projects in action and try out the games yourself!




Disaster Zone had a guest “fly” in today. Joel Knutson of GundersenAir stopped by to teach the students about traumatic injuries. They dealt with a case study about a person that was injured in a farm accident. Through that the students learned about anatomy, first aid, and the importance of a good 911 call.


Good luck to our varsity boys and girls soccer teams!! The soccer teams will host their soccer game against North Fayette Valley on April 29th at the Soccer field in New Hampton. The boys soccer game will start at 4:30pm at home. The girls soccer game will follow at 6:15pm. Go Chickasaws!! You can pay at the gate. The price of admission is $4 student and $6 Adult. Please bring the lawn chairs.

Thank you Kwik Star for sending bags of their new hot dog flavored potato chips to Mrs. Sinnwell's Hot Diggity Dog class! After doing a blind taste test of hot dog buns, 100% of the students unknowing chose Kwik Star buns to be their favorite. Catching wind of the taste test results, Kwik Star felt their biggest fans needed a little reward! Thank you again Kwik Star!

Today's Boys JH home track meet is canceled. No middle school track and field practice after school today (4/28/25).
Due to the high probability of severe weather in the forecast the following sporting events have been cancelled or postponed:
* Boys & Girls Soccer @ Charles City - Postponed to May 15
* Boys Track Meet @ Sumner-Fredericksburg - Cancelled
* Trap Shooting @ Oelwein - Moved up to 3:30 PM
* Junior High Boys Track Meet @ Home - Cancelled
The "Knit It Up" class is diligently refining their craft, demonstrating steady improvement and growing mastery with each session.




Disaster Zone went to the fire station for a demonstration on fire behavior! The dollhouse they burned got hot in a hurry and even suffered a smoke explosion. A big thank you to Kipp and Jaiden Jones for bridging great teachers!




Today we Celebrate the Seniors as our Band and Choirs preform at Coffee House. Always great to see all of the students dressed up after Prom!

Students got to volunteer their time by walking, petting and learning about the available shelter dogs here in town. Thanks to Melissa Scheidel who came to explain more about them! Fundraising will be in their near future as they try to find a new place for the dogs, so stay tuned for that!









Rooftop BBQ was working the machines today. Smash burgers and T-bone steaks! Thanks to a parent for donating a few!


The last day of checkout at the ELEMENTARY will be May 2nd with all books due back May 16th. The last day of checkout at the MS/HS will be May 9th with all books due back May 19th! All senior (12th grade) accounts must be clear by Senior's last day on May 16th!
Notices will be sent home K-4 and emailed to students 5-12. Please be watching for those. If books cannot be found, please take care of the fines as soon as possible.
There is a little contest between classrooms K-4 and 5-8 to see who can get all their books returned first and there will be a prize!
Thank you for supporting the love of reading with our students! It has been an amazing year in the library and cannot wait to share books with students again in the fall!

Iowa BIG North wants to thank Mrs. Shatek at St. Joe’s for inviting us to observe and participate in student presentations about their areas of interest!! We can definitely see future IBN students in their earlier years!! Also want to thank Liz Zweibohmer for providing guidance and presenting certificates!!


NHFD’s Kipp Jones stopped in to teach our students in Disaster Zone about fire behavior and building construction. We even had one student test out some of skills firefighters have to use!



Last fall the NHHS Impact Club asked the fourth graders if they wanted to be pen pals. Many of the students were thrilled to write to one another throughout the year. This week our high school pen pals came to the elementary school and ate lunch with the students. Everyone was excited to finally meet one another. Thank you for joining us!
