Students are making good progress on their projects. Students are building confidence in tying knots and using the running stitch and backstitch.
Algebra students recently used their knowledge of exponential functions to calculate the costs associated with credit cards. Students purchased an item of their choice and calculated the costs associated with not paying off a credit card balance for one year by either making no payments or the minimum payment. Students then wrote a short summary about credit cards and the actual costs of carrying a monthly balance.
Mr. Joel Wisner, the student teacher in the art room with Ms. Nelson, joined Spanish class to present to us about the different painting styles and some Spanish-speaking painters. Our PBL is a cultural experience learning about painters. Be watching for more photos as the project unfolds into writing a presentation in Spanish, painting and presenting in Spanish.

Rooftop BBQ has been busy. They visited the Ionia Locker where Kyle Neitzke taught them about butchering Upper Iowa Beef stopped in to teach about meat grading and how to grow outstanding beef. They even put a set of ribs on the smoker! It's gonna be a tasty afternoon!
The Chickasaw County Rescue Squad stopped into Disaster Zone today. They had the students cutting metal with the Jaws of Life and even gave a student a ride in a backboard!
Students in Life in the Outdoors learn from Marc Waterlander, IDNR Conservation Officer and Matt Crayne, Naturalist. Students also planned a backpack trip on a budget using information learned about county and state parks.

Students in Mr. Erlandson's endmester class, Intro to Computer Science, are learning how to use the coding platform Scratch to design their own game or animation.
