Here come the Chickasaws!

The Chickasaw Cheerleaders have created a new award to say thank you to a special Chickasaw fan who shows their Chickasaw pride wherever event they go- home or away, no matter the sport! The cheerleaders appreciate their fans and those who go above and beyond for our team! This year’s recipient for the Chickasaw Spirit Award is Carl Reicks. We love to hear Carl at all of the football games yelling for the team and cheering them on. Thank you Carl for all you do for the Chickasaw fans! And next time you hear “That’s another Chickasaw First Down”, be sure to join Carl, loud and proud!

Congratulations to the senior football, band, and cheer families! We appreciate the Chickasaw support of our programs! It A Great Day To Be A Chickasaw!

Fifth graders are enjoying their first day of food chemistry lab!.

The Spanish 2 students have been learning adjectives that describe someone's personality. One of the activities was to translate 'cumplidos' or 'compliments', then choose one that meant something to them and make a poster by hand. Here is what they created.

The neat interviews continue for the 7th grade project that Mr. Rude and Mrs. Sanford are leading. Jakob recently interviewed Srimati Karuna, who is the director of Ghandi Memorial in our nation's Capitol. He made contact with her by calling the Indian Embassy in Washington D.C. They talked about Mahatma Ghandi as a leader for peace.

Foods I Class has been learning knife skills. They sliced, diced, and chopped all of the fixings for their omelet lab. They learned how to make a French Omelet and the students in both sections were very successful.

Food Production I Class is trying a new Take-N-Bake Meal for our Chickasaw Cafe. White Cheddar Mac-N-Cheese with Herbed Bread Crumbs. We combined two recipes into one and tried it with and without homemade bread crumbs. We took some samples around to the offices and the final vote was with bread crumbs. We then froze one and will need to bake it and try it from the frozen to baked stage. We will let you know when we have them for sale!

or Senior parents that have students planning to attend college next fall, I wanted to pass along some FAFSA (the Federal financial aid application) information to you.
While they are still not sure of the date the application will open (at this point, sometime in December), what they DO advise you to do at this point is for you and your child to create your FSA IDs. This is basically your login information to get into the FAFSA. You, as parents, will need a FSA ID, and your child will also need their own FSA ID. These need to be approved and that can take up to 5 days, so I advise you do this now so that there is no hold-up when the FAFSA does come out. I have attached a screenshot below of the guidelines of if one or both parents need to create an FSA ID, based off situation.
To CREATE your FSA ID, go to this link: https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch
Please make sure that you record/keep track of any FSA ID created, as they can be quite difficult to recover!! Write it down and keep it in a safe place where you and your child can get back to it.
Lastly, I am attaching a list of what documents are all needed in order to complete the FAFSA so that everything you need can be collected timely enough for when you're ready to fill it out. Any questions can be emailed to Michelle O'Donnell at m_odonnell@new-hampton.k12.ia.us
