The Spanish III students are making a pilgrimage in the hallway to symbolize making El Camino de Santiago in Spain. This pilgrimage began more than 1000 years ago. People of many different belief groups make this pilgrimage each year for various reasons. During this unit we studied a particular set of vocabulary and a map of Spain.

Foods I Classes are wrapping up their food lab experience by making Panini sandwiches on our Panini grills. These are Italian sandwiches that are toasted on each side at the same time. After each lab the students fill out a lab report explaining what they made, prep terms they performed, what they learned from the lab, and what, if anything, would they change. During Food Labs students use their problem solving skills, time management, team player, and leadership skills. A great way to learn with hands-on lessons that you get to eat your homework!

The 3rd graders and their families created blankets for Project Linus. They were able to make 15 blankets for children who have been traumatized or sick this Holiday Season. The blankets will be given to children in Chickasaw County. We thank the family members for their donations of money, time, and support. Your acts of kindness will warm the hearts of many children.

Second graders have been learning how people in other countries celebrate the holidays through a Social Studies unit called Holidays Around The World. Students discovered that the tradition of a Christmas tree (Tannenbaum) comes from Germany. Students in Mrs. Heeren’s class were given the challenge of creating a tool to use to build their Solo cup Tannenbaum. They were able to use three pipe cleaners, three rubber bands and four pieces of paper to make their tool. They were not able to touch the cups with their hands. All four groups did a great job working together.
