Foods II classes have been covering a unit about convenience foods, making food from scratch, food budgets, meal appeal, and healthy snacks. The students have learned how to make homemade food convenient (they made premixes for pancakes and banana bread), less expensive, and healthy. The pictures are from our Healthy Snack Lab. The students drew cards to find out what category they needed to make a healthy snack. Mrs. Schmitt discovered the fresh green beans that they made with oil, salt, and pepper were really good! "I told them I don't like green beans, but I will try one and Wow! It was great." said Mrs. Schmitt. Some of the other groups made hummus, yogurt parfaits, meat & cheese, veggies, fruit kabobs, and more. I heard one student say, "Who knew healthy food would taste this good!"

Miss Vossberg’s students have been learning about polar regions and the animals that live there. As part of their learning students participated in an activity that simulated how blubber helps keep those animals warm.
