This semester, close to half of the students enrolled at New Hampton High School are taking college courses through Northeast Iowa Community College. Enrollment spans over a variety of 40 different courses!

Mrs. Nuss' class came to the library for innovation lab. Had a 15 minute challenge to build the tallest tower out of notecards. The tallest tower was 21 inches tall by Liam and Jon!
The Upper Iowa Conference met today and voted to allow the Howard-Winneshiek school district to join that conference beginning with the 2025-2026 school year. They also voted to send an invitation to Waukon and New Hampton to join their conference at the same time.
The New Hampton district will hold a public meeting next Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the elementary school auditorium. During the meeting, we will talk about the history of this discussion and options going forward. We will also gather input. We will also be putting out surveys to the community, staff, and students to gather additional feedback. Finally, the board will have this on the agenda at the February 19th board meeting.

Our Dairy Unit is always a fun one with the students learning how to make ice cream, old-fashioned ice cream, butter, and pudding - all from scratch. They learn about careers in the dairy industry, different breeds of cows, nutrition information, variety of dairy products, and dairy herd health. Many of our students did not grow up on a dairy farm and are learning new information related to the dairy industry.
Ms. Good's kindergarten class was in the library for innovation lab. They create a nest that could support Horton the elephant and protect the egg. Some real engineers here!

Large Group Speech had an amazing weekend at State Contest! All groups performed in front of three judges, and their ratings were averaged for an overall rating. Five of New Hampton's six groups received an overall district 1 rating and have a chance to be nominated for All-State, the highest honor a group can get for Large Group Speech.
