Our fourth grade Honorable Mention winners from Keystone AEA's Science and Engineering Fair at NICC in Calmar.

Fourteen fourth graders went to Keystone AEA's Science and Engineering Fair at the NICC Campus in Calmar. The students explained their invention to the judges, toured the campus, looked at projects from other students, completed an activity to see what career they would be interested in, and talked with other inventors. This was an excellent experience for them!

Thank you,

It was a late night practicing for FCCLA State Competition. The 3 1/2 hour Baking & Pastry competition will be coming up soon for senior Sydney Hyer. Sydney will represent NHHS in our first competition in FCCLA; as we are a new chapter. If you see Sydney at school, send good luck wishes! You got this!

Both sections of 7th F.C.S. (Family & Consumer Science) classes had successful pancake labs. One student commented, "I didn't know you could make pancakes without a box mix?" They are just learning their chef skills, team work, and time management for their beginning labs. "I would say they are doing a great job!" Mrs. Schmitt

Part of our Fruit Unit included taste-testing tropical fruits. The students learned how to cut a pineapple, mango, and a coconut. The fresh pineapple & mango were amazing; the coconut, the students thought, tastes better from a bag already shredded. The students learned how to select and store fruit, location their fruits are produced, the eight categories of fruit and so much more.

Big thank you to the CWC for hosting the 4th grade Q3 TRIBE celebration!

Thank you to the New Hampton Public Library for their STEM project of rocket launchers! Mrs. Lewis’ class had a blast! Thank you for being our Partner in Education! Here is a video clip to watch.

Second grade students in Mrs. Heeren's class and Ms. Schmitt's class read to residents at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. They had fun sharing poems about leprechauns and spring weather! All four second grade classes made door decorations for the residents to enjoy.

Emma Benoit spoke to New Hampton High School students about suicide prevention and her surviving a suicide attempt in 2017, the summer before her senior year in high school.
After a suicide attempt left 16-year-old varsity cheerleader Emma Benoit paralyzed, she turned her painful experience into a mission to help other young people find hope and stay alive. While managing the challenges of her physical and mental health recovery, Emma strives to bring attention to the sobering reality that 20 young people die by suicide every day in the United States.
After students viewed a portion of the documentary, Emma shared her story with students and staff. You can watch the entire film at My Ascension Documentary.

Sydney Hyer will be competing for NHHS at FCCLA's State Competition in the Baking & Pastry Star Events on Sunday, March 17th. Sydney will have three hours from start to finish to make, bake, and create: a quick bread (blueberry muffins), pate a choux: cream puffs with chantilly cream, cookie: chocolate chip cookie, and decorate a cake to the judges directions. Here are some pictures of practicing after school making a Pate a Choux: Cream Puffs with Chantilly Cream; all from scratch
