To start the year- 4th graders had a goal to fill the bulletin board bookcase outside Mrs. Lewis’ room before Christmas break-and they did it! Last week somebody filled in the last book on the shelf! That is 120 books total read by the 4th graders between August and December! Our top 3 readers in 4th grade were Brooks M. (13 books), Jamayla O. (13 books) and Kourtney H. (10 books) and received a new book as a prize! New blank books have been put up waiting to be filled!

7th Grade FCS Class had a challenging lab of making banana bread, but their results were delicious! Each student took home a mini bread loaf of Mrs. Schmitt's grandmother's recipe of banana bread with chocolate chips. Yum! Students learn so much during a food lab: teamwork, leadership, time management, communication, and following directions.

Baking I Class has been hard at work with finishing their Cake Unit. They made layer cakes, froze them, made frosting, did a crumb coating, froze them again, put on the final icing layer, and then the decorating began! Exhausting! They persevered and finished with some wonderful results. Mrs. Schmitt is so proud of them.

As part of the International Literacy Project, the Interact Club members had a Google Meet call with Claire Hassler on Friday morning. Claire lives in Costa Rica and she shared about her experience in the Peace Corp and how she is helping to teach English in an Elementary School in the Monteverde area. The project is raising funds that will allow Claire to purchase books for the classroom in Costa Rica. If you are interested in donating, please contact Kris Ward at the high school or Jenny Monteith.
